I did not ever think that I would see the day that I would be enjoying website building. I procrastinated for so long, being unhappy with my old website and not knowing how to go about it. I listen to a lot of things on Youtube and I came across an advert for Wix. I'm so pleased to find a site that is SO user friendly and does not frustrate me. So far I have created several pages, including a page for my other interests. One of the things that I find really frustrating when I tell people what I do for a living, is the response that many assume that I must live a charmed life - floating about with a paint brush and magically waving a paint wand to make art. Making art is more than 'making art'. It is a lifestyle. Artists do not switch off...we are taking in ideas and inspiration, we are seeing all possibilities. We deal with the mundane, the practical, the purchasing of materials, the employment of a decent framer, the meetings with our galleries, the meeting of deadlines, the tax returns, the admin, accounts, the frustration of the days when nothing goes right, the recording of images, the invoicing, delivering, private viewings, exhaustion after meeting a deadline, coordinating the work with the framer, the gallery. Being an artist is not a day job, it's a life job. Another question that I regularly get asked is "How long did that take you to paint?" I usually respond "My whole life". Each piece of work has come from a long line of many pieces of work, it is the result of working at it everyday, every single time you have made a mark on a piece of paper or canvas...it has led to that piece that is in front of you today..being an artist is not about a charmed, romantic life..it's graft. Yes, talent needs to be there. In reality it's about 2% talent and 98% graft. Art may appear to be 'expensive'. When I think about the actual cost....well, it's not pricey because it is very real and the journey behind a piece of artwork...it's long.
