Woohoo. Al has made a second sculpture. He's looking to have it fired and needs to find a ceramicist, locally, who can give him some kiln space.
I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I saw it, at nearly finished stage and it looked great.
I hope that when we next meet, that it will be finished. I love seeing new work produced by artists, creatives etc. I love to see the progress.
My friend Chris has just completed some new work and it looks great.
I am already getting excited about a show.
I said to Al that I'm ready for a show and I have a lot to put out there, that I have made this year and a few bit prior.
He asked me if I get a feeling of wanting to keep it for me. I used to, but when your production is high you really want it to go - if at least to make space for more, and of course you want to share it and sell it. There would be little point, otherwise. Actually, there's a lot of point in simply making art for art's sake. The process, the creative outlet the production is equally important.
To make art is to share. I like to think of all the pieces I have made over many, many years that are around UK and beyond. Pieces of work that I will never likely see again. I like the idea that the *'caretakers' are enjoying it. This makes me feel great.
Chris an I have not ever shown together and I can visualise how it could work out very well. We are old friends (17 years) and this helps, because we know each other pretty well. He laughs at my jokes, I laugh at his Geordy-isms, which is also a bonus : )
It would be great if Al gets some more sculpture together and we could include that too. Exciting : )
* Art always belongs to the artist, the people who purchase it, or are gifted it are merely caretakers. I like to make this stipulation. It is an important truth.
Verna, whom I met at my new neighbour's party wishes to join the Improv group. Woohoo. I hope she gets something out of it. I'm sure that she will. It will change the dynamic, from last year...but, I think it could work.
Saturn direct. (Old Father) Time waits for no man.
Short road trip tomorrow, to get glasses.
