Blackberries, apples, bonfires, new (academic year) thick socks, scarves, hats, gloves, hot fresh soups, roasted vegetables, crumbles, red wine, lights, candles and music, crunchy leaves underfoot, pine cone gathering, beautiful gold, yellow, russet, hibernation, long dark evenings, Hygge, cuddling up, open fires, thanksgiving, birthdays, xmas, , new (numeric ) year, naked trees, flat light, evening starry skies, cold, cold winds, snow, windchill, discomfort, escape to sunshine-seek...beginning of spring....and the cycle of nature continues.
I like to come up with solutions, by nature, I like to problem solve. One of my solutions for a happier world (ie Happier people and happier thoughts and actions) are open fires and more open discussion and more intimacy.
We are approaching the end of Summer and we all need someone to lean on, share the fruits of our harvest (whatever that may be) and being in the spirit of 'Vesta'. Vesta was the Goddess of the hearth and home. Vesta is the ultimate 'domestic Goddess' (think in present terms - Nigella Lawson, she would be a modern day Vesta)
Personally I am looking forward to getting into the spirit of Vesta, for the darker months of the year. I am filling my freezer with Downs blackberries and garden apples for making delicious food during the winter months.
An ancient friend stayed with me the weekend. I cooked lots of warming food and my first fresh blackberry and apple crumble of the season - straight from picking into the kitchen, into the oven. I made a fresh egg custard and we indulged, until our tummies were nearly full.
We played Scrabble, and I can tell you that when a Scorpio (G) and a Ophiuchus (L) get into a competitive game....watch out! It's serious. OH G! Tripple OH G!!
Tenacious, like dogs with a bone. It turned out to be a marathon game, neither one of us was intending to lose : ). The Scorpio shifting the gaol posts, to their advantage and playing a couple of sneaky tactics, with a certain intimidation (I will kill you if you win and I'm also writing the scores) and the Ophiuchus coming back with some very unusual or clever words and tactics....and a certain obnoxious/childlike behaviour when winning....whoop, jumping up and down, laughing and being generally distracting and irritating - just for fun : ) (remembering that it is just a game, and the the participation is more important than the outcome)
It was a whole evening of tense fun. A few slanging matches and over use of expletives, some mini-strops. I won by 10 points, of course I did.....I love words. (in actual fact I won by 20 points - I made an allowance for the 'X' that my opponent failed to play that carries minus 10 points)
Next time it will be chess, and it is all about strategy. Hmmmm. I'm thinking that we might need wine for this marathon up and coming event, and my kitty to walk on the table.
Anyway, my point is, that I had a great weekend with my ancient friend....we go back a few lifetimes...and he has gone back to his cave, for now.
I am hoping to see a lot more of him, over the Autumn and Winter because he is not in a very stable place at the moment and has just gone through major heartbreak. We can learn a lot from each other. There are things that I can learn from him, while I can teach him about healing and recovery.
We all need someone to lean on. We all need a winter companion. We all need hugs, and Hygge and warmth in our lives.
It miraculous how someone can re-enter your life, at exactly the right time. How two people can be drawn together, again. This is the Law of Attraction, working for you. Manifesting what you need and desire.
*I am a 'Wright', we are severely competitive. If you have ever had the misfortune of playing 'parlour games' with a Wright - or the Wright family, I apologise. We are horribly competitive and all want to win. Bloodline (DNA) or nurture, I can't altogether say. I just know that we are completive c++++
